Rebecca Sugar herself said fusions represent relationships. The "fusion = sex" thing probably got started with the rumor-mongers who'll say anything for attention, and the gullible clowns who'll believe and pass along anything they hear. Don't let the idiots decide for you.Īs for the whole "fusion = sex" thing, this is wrong. If you're on the fence about whether you like or dislike the show, then watch a few episodes and decide for yourself. And you can dislike the show without having to deal with them.

However, you can be a fan without being part of the fanbase. These idiots have watched a show about love, acceptance, consent, and growing up, and have learned none of it. And yes, they tore into one of the show's staff members because he spoke out against their bullying campaigns. And this is coming from someone who's played League of Legends and Undertale! Yes, some SU fans drove an artist to a suicide attempt because she drew a character "too thin." Yes, SU fans will rip you a new one if you believe Garnet (an alien with an afro-like hairdo and magenta skin) is not a representation of a black woman. Some people hate this show or won't touch it simply because of the fanbase, which is one of the most toxic and scary groups I've ever seen. And it doesn't have to rely on constant insults, whip cracks, and sparkle effects to keep your attention for 11 - 45 minutes. The powerful, borderline-narcissist dictator gets embarrassed by a jab at how she's acting, and suddenly understands things need to change after MILLENNIA? WHAT?! Despite that, the show's better and more entertaining than some of the garbage aimed at 7 - 12 year olds (Teen Titans Go, Johnny Test, She-Ra remake). The latest season finale threw in way too much hype and the biggest issues were solved WAY too quickly. SU has its flaws: "easier said than done" solutions to some problems, awful pacing starting in season 4, horrible scheduling, and patience-testing filler episodes. SU has also helped people through god-awful times in their lives, and given them the strength to speak up for themselves and others. I love that the protagonists have to struggle with issues and suffer consequences, and the antagonists aren't just evil for evil's sake. I love the animation, the characters, the story, and the middle finger it gives to censorship. I wasn't too sure of it myself, but decided to watch the first few episodes to see what the hype was about.
